4th placer ang Pinoy team sa ice-skating

Nagtapos ang SM-Philippine Ice-skating team sa ikaapat na puwesto sa pagtatapos ng 2001 ISI World Recreational Team Championships dito.

Ang Philippine Team na sinusuportahan ng SM, Pepsi, Philippine Airlines at Adidas ay may nahakot na kabuuang 44 golds sa limang araw., 27 silvers at 15 bronze medals para sa kabuuang 528 points upang duplikahin ang kanilang 4th place finish sa Minnesota noong nakaraang taon kung saan ang Filipino skaters ay humakot naman ng 72 golds, 36 silvers at 19 bronze medals.

Sa pinal na araw ng kompetisyon nas sanction ng Skating Institute, ang SM-Philippine ice-skating team ay nagwagi ng 7 golds mula kina Renilord Ganaban (Beta technical), Kim Lavin (Gamma), Jescamelle Malabed (Gam-ma), Jazz Tulda (Pre-Alpha), Rapha Ciudad (Pre-Alpha technical). Jeany Yap (Pre-Alpha technical) at Jefferson Yap (Pre-Alpha technical).

Ang mga nagwagi naman ng silver ay sina Katrice delos Reyes (Freestyle 4), Jeryl Jane Gerida (Freestyle 8) at Katherine Miller (Beta) habang nakopo naman ni Andrea Miller ang natatanging bronze.

Tinanghal na kampeon ang Chiller Ice-Dublin sa 127 team na humatak ng competitors mula sa US, Japan, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia at Philippines.

Isa pang grupo ng SM-Philippine skaters ay lalahok naman sa Skate Asia 2001Invitational championships na nakatakda sa Agosto 12-18 sa Hong Kong.
