Philippine products a hit in Macau

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Long-time Filipino entrepreneur in Macau Edwin Go is confident that Philippine products can make it big in the mainstream Chinese market.

The businessman from Cebu expressed this optimism as he tries to bring more awareness among the local Chinese of the quality and benefits of Philippine products through the four grocery stores that he operates in Macau.

Go recently participated in the 4th Mega Sale Carnival held from last month at the convention center of Macau Fisherman’s Wharf where he, along with his Filipino suppliers, showcased and sold Philippine-made products to local Chinese. The response of the public was very encouraging, with many people trying to get a taste of the food items available.

On sale at his sizable booth were traditional best-selling products like dried mangoes and canned pineapples, as well as new products like soap, tropical fruit wines, coconut sugar and virgin coconut oil. Food items like fruit spreads, condiments and food mixes were also available, providing locals a glimpse of the wide array of products that the Philippines can offer.

Go believes that the key to breaking into the mainstream Chinese market is through wide information dissemination and increased visibility and accessibility of Philippine products to the general public.

Recognizing his advocacy to develop a good following for Philippine products, the Consulate General of the Philippines in Macau constantly coordinates and works with Go during trade fairs and exhibitions by tapping his knowledge of the local market.
