‘Money trail’ ni VP Sara hihimayin na – prosec

MANILA, Philippines — Papasok na sa pinaka-kritikal na yugto ang impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte sa pagharap ng Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), kung saan inaasahang uunahing himayin ng prosecution ang mga financial records na sinasabing makatutulong upang mabuo ang umano’y money trail sa kaso.

Ayon kay House prosecutor Ysabel Maria “Bel” Zamora ng San Juan nitong Linggo na sapat ang mga witness ng prosecution upang mabuo ang kuwento sa likod ng umano’y unexplained wealth ni VP Duterte.

Sinabi ni Zamora na ang mga susunod na testigo ay hindi na lamang magbibigay ng salaysay kundi magpapatunay at mag-a-authenticate ng mga opisyal na dokumento, kabilang ang mga rekord mula sa AMLC, mga bangko, insurance companies, at Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Susuriin umano nila ang mga ito kaugnay ng posibleng money trail na maaaring lumitaw mula sa testimony at records ng iba pang witnesses.

Bagama’t hindi na tatawaging testigo si da­ting Senador Antonio Trillanes IV, sinabi ng mga prosecutor na maaari pa ring makita sa mga susunod na testimonya at records ang koneksiyon sa mga impormasyong inilabas nito.

“We will tie it all together,” ani Zamora.

Sa Lunes, inaasahang magiging sentro ng pagdinig ang AMLC Executive Director na si Ronel Buenaventura, matapos payagan ni Se­nate impeachment court Presiding Officer Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, sa kanyang ruling, ang paggamit ng financial records bilang bahagi ng ebidensiya sa paglilitis.

Noong Oktubre 1, humingi ang defense ng karagdagang panahon upang makapaghanda para sa AMLC witness at sa mga financial documents. Pinagbigyan ito ni Escudero, kaya nailipat sa Lunes ang presentation ni Buenaventura.

Naglabas din ng subpoenas para sa mga kinatawan ng mga insurance companies, bank officials, at officials ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), na inaasahang haharap bilang witnesses ngayong linggo.
