MANILA, Philippines — Girlie, one of the oldest Philippine eagles in captivity, has obtained a senior citizen identification card from the Quezon City government.

Mayor Joy Belmonte presented the senior citizen ID during Philippine Eagle Week observance at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center.

“We will continue to collaborate with agencies such as the La Mesa Ecopark and Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center to protect green spaces,” Belmonte said.

More green and open spaces will be established in the city, the mayor vowed.

Girlie, aged 46 or 47, was rescued in 1982 in Talakag, Bukidnon after being injured with a slingshot.
