MANILA, Philippines - The crossover vehicle credited with giving Suzuki one of its best corporate performance ever was launched last April 28, in a “magical” event at Le Pavillion, Pasay City.
First introduced as a 5-door hatchback in the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, the Suzuki SX4 Crossover was designed by automotive hall of fame designer Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign studio, and was originally intended only for the European market. Better than expected market demand encouraged Suzuki to introduce the SX4 to the global market, including North America and Asia.
The 2010 Suzuki SX4 Crossover has been upgraded with a honeycomb front grille, black fender arch, roof rails, halogen fog lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels for a younger, more contemporary appeal. The M16A engine has been designed to deliver more power and better fuel efficiency. This 1600cc 16-valve DOHC engine with VVT (variable-valve timing) is mated to a four-speed gate-type automatic transmission to deliver maximum output of 110hp at 5,600rpm and maximum torque of 150Nm at 3,800rpm.
With its hatchback-design, the Suzuki SX4 Crossover features flexible cargo capacity, ranging from 253 liters with the rear seats raised to 992 liters with the rear seats folded. A luggage area cover effectively keeps belongings hidden from prying eyes, while a passenger seat undertray provides extra storage for miscellaneous items.
The Suzuki SX4 Crossover’s audio system delivers surround sound experience through an 8-speaker system consisting of 4 door speakers and 4 door-mounted tweeters. External music players can be connected through an auxiliary port, while the in-dash CD player is mp3-compatible. Audio controls are mounted on the leather-wrapped steering wheel for easy access.
On the inside, the instrument cluster serves as a virtual information center with a fuel consumption gauge, fuel range and digital clock. Plush seat fabric material, all-power features, and chrome inner door handles all add to the luxe-feel.
Occupant safety on the Suzuki SX4 Crossover is assured by a high rigidity body that utilizes TECT (total effective control technology) as well as dual air bags, anti-lock brakes and keyless entry. Front ventilated discs and rear solid discs ensure better stopping power, while front McPherson struts and rear torsion beam suspensions with coil springs deliver excellent handling and cornering.
The Suzuki SX4 Crossover is offered in sunlight copper metallic, super black pearl and star silver metallic. Visit any of the 18 Suzuki dealerships nationwide for a closer look at this exciting new Suzuki crossover.
