Batad in Time

Time is at a standstill in a place where custom and code breed simplicity. A place where nicely tucked villages are found. A place richly accentuated by the vegetation of the rice terraces, which is a World Heritage site.

Without electricity, the place is a simple Ifugao community. Without modernity, it is surreal with all the patterns and textures that speak of her rustic character.

Batad simply beckons. You reach Batad by car and by foot. During the challenging two-hour trek, you begin immersing in thoughts of Batad’s incomparable charms, from the majestic Tapia falls to the smell of tapuy and the delicacy of her home weavers.

Batad keeps her secrets well, and visitors leave with these in their hearts. Truth is, only the camera is able to capture the changing moods of Batad.
