One of my favorite meals during the lockdown of that dreaded pandemic was Ginza Gyu. They had just started their online business back then and I have always loved their steak bowls.

Ginza Gyu emerged as a beacon of hope for Japanese food lovers across the metro, embarking on a mission to bring their culinary dreams to life when faced with the challenge of finding good Japanese beef bowls in a sea of takeout options.

Thus, a new don was born in the virtual realm of their cloud kitchen in Makati. They quickly outgrew its virtual confines and were able to open its very first brick-and-mortar store in 2023.

Winnie Wong and Patrick Soriano.

Ginza Gyu Makati celebrated their very first birthday and to thank their loyal patrons who have made this past year absolutely spectacular, throwing a party like no other. They opened their doors at 11:30 a.m. and the festivities kept going until 12 a.m. They allowed their diners to savor the mouthwatering Spicy Tuna Tartare for the jaw-dropping price of just P1 per piece!

Aly Arellano and Ashley Rivera.

The place is also a great hangout after dining since their Japanese-inspired cocktails are great, too!  The place is cozy enough to become a bar to hang out in, especially for Legazpi Village residents in Makati.

Ginza Gyu is a proud member of the Raspberry Kitchen Group, founded by Richard and Maxine Sanz and Mikael and Queen Jiang.

The six wives of King Henry VIII in Six The Musical.

The Queens are ready to reign supreme in Manila as Kenny Wax, Wendy and Andy Barnes and George Stiles, in association with GMG Productions, present the hit musical directly from the West End, Six the Musical. The production’s revolutionary take on history and music has a limited season run in Manila from October 1 to 20, 2024, at the Theatre at Solaire.

Six tells the story of the six wives of King Henry VIII, who step out of the shadow of their infamous husband and reclaim their own narratives. Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the modern, pop-inspired musical brings these historical figures to life, portraying them as fierce and influential pop stars in their own right. Audiences are taken on a journey through the lives of Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr, each telling their own story.

Since its debut at the Edinburgh Festival in 2017, Six has received widespread critical acclaim, leaving audiences enthralled by its infectious energy, catchy tunes, and empowering message. UK’s The Daily Telegraph called it “A theatrical phenomenon” and American Vogue wrote it was “A riotous explosion of wit that speaks strongly and vibrantly to today.”

Six has also received well-deserved recognition in the industry, winning 35 major international awards, including two Tony Awards and a Grammy nomination. The global hit has been seen by over 3.5 million people worldwide every year since its premiere, and has toured internationally in the United States, Canada, Australia, and South Korea.

GMG Productions’ CEO Carlos Candal said “Bringing Six the Musical to Manila is a momentous occasion. The energy and impact of this production are unparalleled, and we believe Manila audiences are in for a royal treat. This is not just a show but an experience that celebrates the strength and resilience of women in a way that is both entertaining and empowering.”

The Manila season is presented at The Theatre at Solaire by GMG Productions, with tickets on sale only through TicketWorld. Theater fans can enjoy exclusive first access to the show with UnionBank of the Philippines as the show’s official sponsor and pre-sale partner or through the GMG Six the Musical waitlist at www.gmg-productions.com.
