Much-needed help has been extended to those badly affected by typhoon Ulysses in some evacuation centers where the risk of spreading the coronavirus is higher.

Global bio-diagnostic company SD Biosensor donated 5,000 Standard Q Antigen Test Kits to typhoon survivors in evacuation centers where social distancing is a challenge. The donation was made in response to the call of the government to roll out COVID-19 antigen testing, especially in highly vulnerable Local Government Units.

Madeline Pajarillo, president of Trulaboratories Corporation, which represents SD Biosensor in the Philippines, said, “We support our government’s efforts in controlling the spread of the virus, especially in typhoon-affected shelters where the risk of infection is high. Testing is at the forefront of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic and a comprehensive package of high-quality, affordable tests that provide reliable and immediate results is key.”

The company donated the antigen kits to areas heavily affected by typhoon Ulysses, such as Marikina and Rodriguez (Montalban) province. Marikina Councilors Angel Nunez and Donn Carlo Favis, and Rodriguez councilor Arnold Rivera received the donations on behalf of their constituents.

The SD Biosensor Antigen Test is the first antigen test kit approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its Emergency Use Listing.   SD Biosensor Antigen Test has been validated by the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine (RITM) and meets the minimum Clinical Sensitivity requirement of WHO and Health Technology Assessment Council (HTAC).

Kuya J opens new branch during pandemic

Malabon residents are getting an early Christmas treat as Kuya J opened its newest branch in the city’s Fisher Mall. This is the first brand-new Kuya J restaurant to open during the pandemic.

I am glad some are still optimistic about business during these uncertain times. Aside from bringing Kuya J’s signature dishes closer to residents in the area, the new branch aims to help support the economy by generating new jobs and boosting commerce in the municipality.

Kuya J Group marketing director Ton Gatmaitan

My friend and marketing director of Kuya J Group, Ton Gatmaitan, said, “We decided to push through with the opening despite the ongoing pandemic because we need to help rebuild our economy by generating jobs and encouraging everyone to fully pivot to the new normal. Moreover, as we move closer to Christmas, we want to give families in Malabon better access to Kuya J treats, which they can enjoy during the holiday season.”

A small opening ceremony was attended by Kuya J Group executives with singer Jed Madela and other VIP guests.

Malabon residents will now be able to satisfy their cravings for Filipino food with Kuya J’s bestsellers such as their Crispy Pata, Beef Kare-Kare, and Kuya J’s whole Fried Chicken.
