With the year-end just a few weeks away, SM Supermalls took time to thank its media partners for a fruitful and productive 2019.

Organized by SM Supermalls COO Steven Tan and graced by no less than siblings, SM Investments Corp. vice chair Tessie Sy-Coson and SM Prime chairman of the executive committee Hans Sy, the luncheon, held at Conrad Manila’s China Blue restaurant, gathered media heavyweights who are considered to be SM’s most valued partners. Joining them in welcoming guests were SM Supermalls’ Jonjon San Agustin, Grace Magno and Mitch So.

It was a rare occasion to see the bosses of the biggest publications in one event: The Philippine STAR president and CEO Miguel Belmonte, Bulletin president Emil Yap, Inquirer president and CEO Sandy Romualdez and Tatler managing director Irene Martel Francisco.

Everyone agreed it was what a thanksgiving luncheon should be. There were no pressing headlines to be written or any controversial questions that needed to be asked. Just a relaxing lunch with sumptuous delicacies, among friends and partners who are grateful for the year that’s about to close and are looking forward to another partnership for the coming year.

What’s new at Ooma?

Ooma recently hosted a private dinner party at its Sushi Bar in Salcedo Village, Makati City to introduce an upgraded menu featuring Japanese classics done the Ooma way. The intimate event provided a sneak preview of the new offerings ahead of its official launch in its shops the next day.

The bright and cozy shop was transformed into a hip bar with artful installations inspired by graphic novels. The new dishes took center stage on Japanese crate-inspired pedestals while guest DJ Seña set the tone with music that kept the party going through the evening.

The new dishes included were teppanyaki-inspired Garlic Steak made of sous vide hanging tender, fried oyster mushrooms, cauliflower purée, and sauteed kailan. A crowd favorite was the Bara Chirashi Don, which was a mix of salmon, tuna, uni, unagi, crispy egg, and torched baby octopus. Another hit was the Cheese Katsu Curry Don made of pork sukiyaki and mozzarella, with fried carrots and eggplant on the sides. The sweet ending was the creamy mochi and matcha cheesecake. The 31 new dishes were rolled out the next day at all Ooma shops.

All of this food with overflowing sake and good company made for a great night.
