A sweet treat
Honey is a perfect complement to food and drinks as one may use it in dishes — from appetizers to desserts.
Honey lovers in the Philippines continue to enjoy German brand Langnese Honey’s five flavors — Golden Clear, Acacia, Wild Lavender, Wildflower and Black Forest.
A lunch was recently held at The Wholesome Table in Greenbelt, Makati City where chefs prepared dishes with honey — salad, fried calamari, honey roasted chicken and miso-honey glazed salmon.
I really liked the acacia and wild flower variant to mix with tea or coffee instead of sugar. The lavender honey seemed to go perfectly well with salad. The Black Forest honey, with its dark color and full-bodied taste, is as a luxurious quality honey and is by far my favorite of all. I had a delightful time trying all five flavors!
Langnese is the German market leader for high-quality honey that has passed strict EU food standards. It is all-natural and unfiltered, so it retains the natural goodness of honey without compromising its taste and nutritional benefits. Its products are distributed in 45 countries and the Philippines is one of the first Asian markets Langnese has selected to bring its honey to.
Fly Ace Corp. senior product manager Emie San Beda said, “Langnese Honey enhances one’s mood when one knows the right variant that perfectly complements the food. It is known for its purity and versatility, which makes it a kitchen staple that can warm the hearts of Filipino consumers.”
General manager Ramon Daez said, “Fly Ace Corp. is committed to bringing the best of the world’s food and beverages to every Filipino home. We are proud for being the chosen partner of Langnese, which gives us even more opportunity to provide a variety of top-quality products that Filipino consumers can easily avail themselves of and enjoy.”

Ringing in the holidays
To usher in the holidays and make wishes for the New Year, Grand Hyatt Manila in Taguig City recently held its second annual cake-mixing event.
The hotel kicked off a traditional cake-mixing ceremony, which originated from 17th-century Europe. This tradition is believed to bring good tidings and happiness with the holiday season and make one’s intentions for the New Year. The activity also marks the arrival of the harvest season, when fruits and nuts are harvested before winter, and eventually turned into the Christmas fruitcake, which guests made during the hotel’s event.
Led by executive chef Mark Hagan and pastry chef Saban Cavlak, the ceremony began with the presentation of ingredients — assorted sweets, nuts, fruits and liquor — which were all mixed together by guests using their hands.
The cake-mixing ceremony also served as a sneak peek of what’s to come in Grand Hyatt Manila for its holiday celebrations — from whimsical treats such as Gingerbread Houses (I even made one myself!), Christmas cookies and Chocolate Santas, to hampers filled with goodies.
Area vice president and general manager Gottfried Bogensperger said, “We are looking forward to presenting to our guests what we have in store for them for the holidays. We have so many choices for them to celebrate with their families and friends in our restaurants, we have our beautiful rooms, gifts from our Illume Spa, and, of course, our holiday treats, which will be offered soon at Florentine. We can tell our guests that we are prepared to make sure that their celebration will be memorable. All they have to do is enjoy, and we will take care of the rest.”
