Pinoy brand stands out
For several years now, Century Pacific Food Inc. (CPFI), the company founded in 1978 by visionary entrepreneur Ricardo Po Sr., has been successfully bringing its brands Century Tuna and Argentina canned meats abroad where large Filipino communities reside.
Century Tuna, reportedly a leading supermarket brand in China and Vietnam, has penetrated key markets in the Middle East, North America, Europe and across Asia Pacific. Today, it is reportedly also among the Top 3 brands in the Middle East.
Recently, the Philippine Marketing Association’s Agora Awards, the award-giving body that recognizes individuals and companies that excel in marketing, recognized CPFI with the Outstanding Achievement in Export Marketing award. A coveted honor and a distinct feather to a local marketing professional’s cap, the Agora Awards is the highest marketing distinction handed out in the Philippines.
The award recognizes CPFI’s disciplined marketing approach: first focusing on large Filipino communities abroad as its entry point towards establishing a market base in each region then gradually expanding its reach to mainstream consumers in each country by way of food expos.
Proudly receiving the award on behalf of CPFI during the awards was chief operating officer Greg Banzon, who was an Agora awardee for Marketing Management Excellence in 2014.
This prized recognition is a testament to the dedication of the men and women of CPFI and its Global Branding Group, led by Randy Cruz and Sherry Lou Marzo.
Golden Girls rock with Carnaval de Ouro
Golden Girls Class ‘68 dancing to Magalenha and Tumba La Casa are (from left) Ma. Teresa ‘Pinky’ Kahn Saado, Cristina Galvez, Ma. Elena Lopez, Sister Mary Cecilia, r.a., Theresa Aduna Arabit, Mary Ann Meer Vera Perez and Cynthia Blanch Peñalver.
It was a joyful and vibrant celebration at the Assumption Convent annual Old Girls’ Day held at its San Lorenzo, Makati campus. The highlight of the celebration was the velada, a much-awaited event where alumnae perform as they celebrate their camaraderie.
The Golden Girls Class ‘68 graduates from Assumption Convent of Herran and San Lorenzo shone bright in their “gold” theme, Carnaval de Ouro. The ladies, dressed in their colorful costumes, captured the batch’s vigor and enthusiasm — proving their love for life and their energy to still rock their world. The group started dancing from the aisle of the auditorium up to the stage to the tune of the fast-paced Latin beat of Magalenha by Sergio Mendes and Tumba La Casa by Thalia.
Assumption alumnae joined and celebrated this event with many flying in from abroad and other parts of the Philippines to be part of the homecoming.
The Old Girls’ Day was the perfect time for celebration, bonding, renewing friendships and continuing ties with friends and classmates. It also brought forth the Assumption values that were learned and adopted through the years.
To commemorate the event, a Jubilee book was published containing write-ups from members of the class and photos with a “then and now” theme that brought smiles and many memories.
Carnaval de Ouro was choreographed by Jeremy Vallejo and assisted by Jerome Aquino and Jhun Bino.
The velada host Silver Class ‘93, Pearl Class ‘86, Jade Class ‘83, Ruby Class ‘78, Sapphire Class ‘73, Emerald Class ‘63, Diamond Class ‘58, Blue Diamond Class ‘53 and Platinum Class ‘48 also performed during the program. *
