Respected and iconic cognac brand Louis XIII from the house of Remy Martin hosted an exclusive dinner at Old Manila in The Peninsula Manila. The venue was decorated with beautifully lit glass cases of special and rare decanters of Louis XIII cognac.
International ambassador for Louis XIII Chian Mei Gan flew in from Cognac, France to be part of the event and shared with guests the passion, complexity and tradition behind the creation of every decanter of cognac. The cognac brand was created in 1874 and was showcased at the 1900 Paris universal exhibition.
Joining the guests for a specially curated five-course meal by Old Manila chef de cuisine Bertrand Charles were Lucerne’s Emerson Yao and Remy Cointreau’s Antonio Pineda.
The dinner’s highlight was the opening of a special decanter of Louis XIII for the guests to enjoy. Special Remy Martin pliers held the cognac that was made with centuries of skill, passion and luxury. Chian Mei Gan led everyone to a cognac appreciation ceremony and toasted to tradition and excellence.
Louis XIII is an icon in the world of fine cognacs revered for its complex blend of 1,200 eaux-de-vie from Grand Champagne ranging from 40 to 100 years old. It is bottled in that classic decanter adorned with the fleur-de-lis.

An afternoon of pampering
It was a blissful afternoon of pampering and relaxation when feminine brand Whisper unveiled its most innovative pad to date — Whisper Skin Love.
Held at Chi, The Spa at EDSA Shangri-La Manila, guests enjoyed special spa services and a sumptuous skin-friendly three-course meal.
Brand manager Jan Ang said, “Whisper believes that ‘that time of the month’ should not limit you — instead, it is a reminder to take care of yourself, to take the extra step to pamper, indulge and make sure you get the best care you deserve because we feel your period experience should be at this level of comfort.”
The launch also saw the unveiling of the brand’s newest endorser Isabelle Daza. With a very busy and active life, Belle admitted that stars aren’t always aligned. She said, “I panic, first and foremost. I’m normal like any human being. But I think I just kind of realize that every problem comes with a solution. I just have to take my time to find that solution. I don’t think having your period should be an excuse. The solution is to find the right pad that is light and breathable.”
The importance of finding a pad that is breathable and gentle to the skin was also emphasized by dermatologist Kaye Bautista, who delivered a short talk on how one can enjoy the most comfortable period experience.
“There are so many things that we can do each day, and nothing should stop us from being on the move — not even our period,” Belle concluded.
