Your columnist decided to have a blast to mark the 27th anniversary of his 50th birthday at where else but the Grand Ballroom of Makati’s luxurious five-star hotel — Dusit Thani Manila, which consistently scores high in his checklist.
From delectable dishes, exquisite service from staff to hotel executives, and a warm, captivating ambiance, Dusit never fails to deliver. In fact, my past birthdays have been celebrated here for four years in a row! This year was definitely one of the — if not “the†— most relaxing and enjoyable birthday parties that yours truly has ever had. Thanks to Dusit Thani Manila general manager Alex Willats who was in London at that time but was ably represented by resident manager Salvador “Jun†Cortez Jr., making sure everything ran smoothly.
Present were my family and friends from the government, business and social circles. First-class entertainment was provided by top-notch performers Concert King Martin Nievera, Filipina-American singer Stephanie Reese, chanteuse Pinky Marquez, bari-tenor Jack Salud and 11-year-old musical prodigy Kris John Paul Gonzales. They all sang songs that captivated everyone.
A fashion show featuring the magical creations of the “Queen of Knits†Lulu Tan-Gan with jewelry by Jewelmer capped the evening.
Fine wines, courtesy of my good friend Tita Trillo, flowed throughout the evening. As the festivities came to an end, my guests went home with giveaways from perfume icon Joel Cruz, L’Occitane by Rustan’s courtesy of Nedy Tantoco, Laneige’s statuesque owner Winnie Go and Beabi’s young proprietor Willin Chan to remember the night.
Thank you, everyone, for an unforgettable evening and another memorable year!
