Guests got a full preview of Yosi Samra’s collection when the New York-based cult favorite shoe brand hosted an intimate lunch at Terraz Bistro to show off a range of sparkly flats, ankle-strapped leather shoes and studded pairs.

Yosi Samra is the go-to favorite pair of Hollywood celebrities like Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashley Greene, Mila Kunis and Halle Berry. The brand’s expansion in Manila  (four stand-alone boutiques and spaces at the Archaeology section and Gas in Greenbelt) signifies the global appeal of the YS fashion aesthetic.

The brand’s marketing manager Johanna Chua said, “We’re happy to announce that the Philippine market is actually one of the biggest outside the US. Most of the stores carry the complete line, and we’re excited to offer the most luxurious pairs done in great quality leather like pigskin, calf and suede, at affordable price points.”

Hosted by Tessa Prieto-Valdes, who wore a Yosi Samra pair to complement her pink dress, the event was a treat to the guests who enjoyed an afternoon of fashion and fun games as limited edition Yosi Samra totes among others were given away.

Race of the Century

Triathlons continue to gain a loyal following because they are a great way to keep fit. They also push a person to his limits and discover his strengths and weaknesses in the process.

Recently, close to a thousand multisport enthusiasts gathered in Subic for the country’s biggest Olympic distance race, the Century Tuna 5150.

From last year’s 620 participants, 940 registered in this year’s triathlon sponsored by Century Tuna. Described by the world’s finest triathletes as one of the toughest races in the world, Century Tuna 5150 Triathlon was also made possible by Sunrise Events and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

It attracted professional triathletes from around the world including Sweden’s Frederik Croneberg, United Kingdom’s Jacqui Slack, Australia’s Belinda Granger and Luke McKenzie, who both topped the male and female professional categories.

The Philippine team was led by Jenny Rose Guerrero and John Leerams Chicano, first placers in the Filipino Elite male and female categories. Also seen in the race were Century Canning Corp. vice president and general manager Greg Banzon and Sunrise Events president Wilfred Steven Uytengsu.

Vanj Endaya and Raoul Floresca were given the Century Tuna 5150 Triathlon Superbods for their finely chiseled bodies.  

The members of the Polo Tri-Team, who showed great teamwork in the race, were recognized and awarded the Century Tuna Team Award. The team recorded a total race time of 786 minutes and 39 seconds and had top five finishers.

This year’s program was hosted by sportscasters Jinno Rufino and Chiqui Reyes.

Great prizes and freebies were given away by sponsors like Finisher Pix, 2XU, Air Asia, Alaska, Oakley, The Philippine Star, LBC, Gatorade and Globe.
