Manila, Philippines - The legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra brings back the magical sound of the big band and swing era of the 1940s as it opens its two-day dance-concert tour on July 2, 8 p.m. at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
Performing with the world-famous orchestra are the Swing Kittens as the reincarnation of the Andrews Sisters and Filipino balladeer Arthur Manuntag. The dance-concert series ends with a show on July 3 at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu City.
The Glenn Miller Orchestra will take the audience back in time as it recreates the distinctive sound of the big band through an array of its vintage World War II hits and other popular tunes from the Great American Songbook. The musical event mounted by Ovation Productions features a 17-piece orchestra that showcases the Glenn Miller band’s instrumentation and style. The band will open with Moonlight Serenade before shifting to a fast-paced repertoire of jazz, swing, classics and traditional big-band numbers such as In The Mood, Chattanooga Choo Choo, At Last and Little Brown Jug.
The two-day Philippine dance-concert engagement is part of the band’s current world tour as it celebrates its 75th year.
Glenn Miller Orchestra Live In Manila! is presented by Ovation Productions in association with RJ 100.3, 2nd Avenue, Diva Universal, Talk TV, Basketball TV, Philippine Airlines and Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.
