Everyone wants the best of everything. I certainly do.
Being an insomniac, I consider my sleeping time very precious. I always want to achieve a deep, sound sleep.
Tempur, one of the 12 prestigious brands under Focus Global Inc., certainly defines “the best” by being the best-selling mattress in the world. The new line of Tempur mattresses was launched at its Greenbelt 5 showroom in an exclusive gathering hosted by my good friends Malu Gamboa of my favorite restaurants Tsukiji, Cirkulo, Azuthai and Milky Way, and the fashionable Leica Carpo-Argosino.
A short speech by Focus Global Inc. president Stephen Sy emphasized the company’s thrust to bring only the best into the market. Also present during the launch was Dr. Keith Aguilera, director of St. Luke’s Medical Center Sleep Disorder Center, who enlightened the guests with Tempur’s positive effects on a good night’s sleep.
Lucky guests ABS-CBN’s Ernie Lopez and head-turner Tessa Prieto-Valdes were tasked to test any Tempur mattress of their choice for one month and share the results of their experience. Both participants are users of Tempur products and their hectic schedules made them the perfect choice for the month-long experiment.
Tempur material’s unique properties were demonstrated with the participation of Ernie lying on one side of the mattress with a glass of wine set on the opposite side. A model in a long pajama shirt proceeded to jump on the mattress as guests were visibly amazed that the glass of wine still stood unaffected. Undisturbed sleep is not as elusive if done on a Tempur mattress. I have been sleeping better since I started using Tempur pillows three years ago.
The brand has continued to prove that it is one of the best, if not the best, in the market with its three new unique styles of Tempur mattresses, designed specifically to cater to various sleeping preferences. The first, with a softer surface, is called The Cloud Mattress, which feels as close as you can get to sleeping on a cloud. The second is called The Sensation Mattress, which provides maximum support to your body thus reducing restless sleep. The Original Mattress provides perfectly combined softness and firmness, molding to the shape and position of one’s body at the same time providing full support to the neck, back and shoulders.
Throughout the launch, guests were entertained and treated to Tempur pillows and eye masks as prizes. It was indeed a launch done only for the best of the best.
The Boombox is back!
Throughout the years, the TDK brand has successfully pumped the world up with its cool and innovative selection of music gadgets. I remember buying only TDK cassette tapes when I wanted to transfer songs from records (kids, this was the ‘80s equivalent to burning a CD or downloading from iTunes). This year, TDK allures music-lovers through its Hero Boombox series. This Boombox has already created a big buzz in Boracay’s Epic Summer Takeover. The brand delighted the beach-goers of Boracay by partnering with the first-ever Epic Summer Takeover. The summer getaway was one of the biggest events on the island, continuing the legacy of the summer adventure “Boracay Bound” series, which lasted for 10 years.
People started grooving by happy hour while others joined in the fun-filled games like The Last Man Standing and The Case Swap. Others seen at the event were Alodia Gosiengfiao, TDK ambassador DJ Funk Avy, JM Rodriguez, Stephen Ku and Jake Cuenca.

In 1975, Promod was just an independent family business that started by selling professional clothing and chose not to be listed on the stock market. Now, the French brand has over 900 stores worldwide.
It strengthens its presence in the Philippines with the launch of its 10th store at Bonifacio High Street Central in Taguig City. Since its 2007 opening at TriNoma, other stores have opened in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao.
Guests enjoyed a French chic shopping experience. A mini fashion preview of Promod’s current collection also highlighted its current key pieces. This season’s collection infuse a wide range of looks and cuts that are streamlined and feminine. Promod features six key looks that embody what young, active and modern women want, namely Allure Cocktail, Saint Tropez, Fluos, Ethno Metal, Summer Rock and Vaudou.
