Bringing wireless healthcare to the masses

MANILA, Philippines -- The local government of Tarlac in partnership with the Department of Health (DOH), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Qualcomm, SMART Communications, RTI International, Tarlac State University, and the National Telehealth Center of the University of the Philippines (UP), recently launched “Wireless Access for Health,” an initiative that utilizes 3G technology to improve the healthcare system in Tarlac and deliver better services to its residents.

Tested in four local health centers in Tarlac, the program has reduced the time required for reporting public health data and improved access to accurate and comprehensive information for clinicians and medical practitioners.
