We’re watching you
It’s as if nothing else matters except ghost flood control projects, suitcases of money delivered as kickbacks to government officials and thieves applying as state witnesses, complete with bulletproof vests and finger heart gestures.
Yes, all that is more than scandalous, it’s criminal for sure, but at this point it is still unclear if the culprits – all of them, not just “fall guys” or “sacrificial lambs” – will actually be charged, tried, convicted and sent to jail.
Then there are the rumors of coups and destabilization moves, whether these are pure fake news meant to confuse or if there is some basis for such news going around social media, how are we ordinary people supposed to react?
Life for the ordinary Filipinos is hard enough, with daily struggles to put enough food on the table for the family, getting to work through traffic and flooded streets, children trying to get an education despite constant class suspensions and online lessons that make learning really difficult. Prices of basic goods are still high, whether there are imports or not; with each typhoon prices of vegetables and fish increase. Who’s attending to these problems of us ordinary folks?
The amounts stolen in hundreds of millions and billions, people flaunting millions spent on parties and watches and cars and even handbags while millions of Filipinos cannot even have three square meals a day – sobra na.
Is the administration really serious about rooting out corruption? About going after those who stole public funds regardless of who they are – allies or friends or supporters or even relatives?
