A year into the Marcos administration, we finally have permanent heads of the Departments of National Defense and Health, both crucial departments.
Now we can finally get going on concrete and long-term plans for our national defence and security, both internal and external. And the many problems of our health sector will hopefully have real and do-able solutions, and the dream of affordable health care for all will be achieved.
Now it’s just the Department of Agriculture that needs a full-time, permanent secretary. In this day of shortages of a lot of food items, plus runaway prices on what are available and accusations of smuggling and irregular importations, this most important department must have someone at the helm to attend to the thousand and one problems full time, 24/7. The President has too much that needs his attention; while he may want to deal with agriculture himself, there are just too many problems and details.
Please, Mr. President, isa pang appointment nalang. — Jovencio Martinez, Quezon City
