Let us all accept the results of the elections (with clear winners) no matter how lamentable many of them prove that we have metamorphosed into becoming utterly depraved as a people. Our vote indeed reflects who we are now, courtesy of fake news, disinformation, distortions and “popularity” (or election celebrity status).
Rest assured, though, God’s grace remains and perseveres to carry us through in the days and years ahead (come what may) except that we must/might have missed God’s best design and blessing that should otherwise be ours to relish and savor, had we heeded and obeyed Him. (Deuteronomy 11:26-28)
Our hope and future as a people rest in God Almighty (His sovereignty), not in any human being or politician with his/her frailty and folly. Hence, the newly elected leaders need our ardent prayers, vigilance and active participation in nation-building and addressing the ills of society. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
We can never fix the nation unless we first fix ourselves. Grace for both the winners and losers in the just concluded elections. And grace to all Filipinos. (2 Chronicles 7:14) – Reni M. Valenzuela renivalenzuelaletters@yahoo.com
