Respect for human rights

The Philippine Star

Enemies of the government have always used torture towards government troops, perceived supporters or government informants and innocent civilians.

What makes them driven to do so is their indoctrination.

Once inside their organization, they are changed personalities and have no more regard for human life, even of their own, as what suicide bombers here and elsewhere have done.

They are willing to use their own life in furtherance  of their twisted belief. They are the number one human rights violators as they use all kinds of torture to push the physical body beyond pain and endurance.

Human rights have has universal condemnation but still, human rights violators have become bolder and merciless that even those who help victims of conflict, war and injustices fall prey to this kind of abhorrent experience.

War has taught us many lessons but it seems war’s experiences brought the worst in us.

Hundreds of years before, and even at the present, some of us have morphed into monsters who aspire to rule the world with violence.

We have witnessed the efforts towards the promotion and preservation of human rights, laws were promulgated, enacted, but still, human rights violators dishearten us and faces us, especially these trying days when all of us, our leaders try hard to preserve human dignity.

We should never give up, however for still believing in our heart and mind that one day soon, human rights violators will understand the true value and respect for human life. – Alex S. J. Francisco, Sta. Cruz, Laguna
