Letters to the Editor

Former prof remembers Ingco

The Philippine Star

Rarely do I write letters to a newspaper editor, but I could not help scribble some lines about a former student of mine who had been pathetically hogging the headlines the past days; and wrongly pictured as a spoiled-brat businessman driving a Maserati sports car, abusing a traffic enforcer.

Although I have lost contact with him, I practically saw Joseph Russel A. Ingco “grow up” during his many years of education in the San Beda College of Arts and Sciences. Remember him well as a gentle soul, kind-hearted, soft-spoken, and peaceful young man. Coming from a well-off yet humble family, Russel, as we call him, never had any serious school disciplinary case that cast doubt on his character.

I refuse to pass judgment on anyone involved in this unfortunate case, but I wish people to know that Joseph Russel Ingco is basically a good man. I am confident that in the end, it is the purity of his heart that will prevail. Thank you for giving this letter a space in your widely read paper. — JOFFRE M. ALAJAR, Associate Vice Dean-Accountancy and Business, San Beda College
