Support our ‘Yes for Peace’

For all our “My Teacher, My Hero”:

The “10 Million in 10 Days” of our YES FOR PEACE — Bayanihan para sa KKK (Kapayapaan, Kaunlaran at Kasaganahan) is now here — Nov. 8 to 17.

While it may seem as an additional workload on the part of our educators, their individual contributions, however small, insignificant and humble it may seem, will greatly contribute in collectively proving that our teachers are not only the guiding lights of our children – teachers are the guiding lights of our nation.

Through the heroic contributions of thousands of our Teachers in terms of time, money and efforts fueled by the heroic fervor in them, an additional 2,326,499 Filipinos responded to our call for permanent ceasefire by the end of 2013; open and participatory peace negotiations here in the Philippines; and mass-based support for all programs and projects to be agreed upon to address the root causes of the armed conflicts from December 2011 to February 2013:

The future of the Filipino people actually depends on our teachers! Considering that there are more than 13 million pupils and students enrolled from Grades 4 to 10 in public and private elementary and high schools nationwide and that they will be asked to seek the responses of twoof their parents, relatives, friends and neighbors, we are hopeful that we will be able reach or even surpass our target of 10 million using traditional means of information dissemination coupled with extensive use of readily available information and communications technology.

We have not conducted our campaign in the ARMM so as not to interfere with the then ongoing negotiations between the government and the MILF. But it is now timely to wage it now considering recent spates of armed violence in various areas of Mindanao and the need for rebels and soldiers to join hands with us in rebuilding from the ravages of man-made humanitarian crisis dur to the armed conflicts and the natural disasters that have come our way in the past few weeks.
