Privileged information

Godofredo Salvacion, Colon, Cebu - The Philippine Star

In any organization, the disclosure of information is analyzed and studied before it goes public.  It is a common practice that information is kept under wraps, unless otherwise needed or is of importance to national security, as in the case of the government and the military and other entities.

So, when I read in one big newspaper about the goings on regarding the issue in the Panatag Shoal; and Malacañang and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Department of National Defense issuing statements, I say hey, not all information should be let out for there are informations categorized to privileged information and should not be made public, not only for security reasons, but of appropriateness.

Comparing this to our personal life, there are things we should keep to ourselves. We all have secrets and we protect ourselves in keeping those secrets. This also applies to the government, corporate, military and all sectors of society. We should never show who we are, what we are, what we have and capable of doing. Let’s not sell ourselves to the public as we might harvest the wrong perceptions and that might endanger us in the end. Most information should be kept in the dark for a good cause or objective.
