An opportunity to be a crusader

Despite the social ills, economic chaos, political turmoil and government indifference, I try my best to contribute in my humble way to the general good of our people.

Actually, I’m longing for a progressive and productive Filipino youth in line with the oft-forgotten aspiration of our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. As much as I desire to go to great lengths, my limited resources do not allow any farther movement. It is my desire to bring joy and peace in the homes, hope and responsibility to our youth as well.

Let us therefore join hands and together begin to invest in our children’s needs to build a stronger foundation for the future. In the end, we can but expect a peaceful and happy life for all.

With this view in mind, I authored a handbook titled “Providing Proper Care to the Pinoy Child During the Formative Years” in keeping with my personal crusade to help check our ever-growing social ills. It is a complete and comprehensive guide to proper child-rearing that provides all the four essentials of child rearing: “Health, Care, Safety and Education,” with over 400 illustrations, written in English/Tagalog that became a national best seller in 1997. However, it lost momentum among prospective readers, perhaps owing to the reluctance of some government agencies and some sectors of society to include it in their funding outlay. Hopefully, the poorest of the poor families whose children are in the formative years who were denied benefits given under 4Ps flagship of President Aquino be provided with Pinoy Child book.

Actually, I sought the help of some of those in government, religious sectors, media, and politicians. Sad to say there was no response… not even the courtesy of a reply. Anyway, this will not deter me from pursuing my advocacy because it is the wisdom that I can share that truly matters. At this point, I call on concerned and civic-minded citizens to join this movement and have the opportunity to earn as well.
