Penal reforms

This is my reaction on the recent issues facing the Bureau of Corrections specifically the Bureau of Corrections Director Guadencio Pangilinan with the alleged allegations of former Prison Guard Kabungsuan “Bong” Makilala. He accused Director Pangilinan of corruption, tolerating prostitutions and other irregularities upon his assumption as bureau chief for six months already.

I am Pastora Jocelyn Enriquez, 34 years old I am the lead pastor of the Born Again Sanctuary of Praise inside the New Bilibid Prison for almost 3 years already. I am the living witness how the new administration of Director Pangilinan transformed the life of the inmates inside the bilibid.

Director Pangilinan improved the facilities of the NBP hospital, he even treat the inmates humanely, squarely and fairly as well as their families and loves ones by establishing the Inmates Support Center. Not only that he even eradicated the transportations of illegal drugs inside the national penitentiary.

As a matter of fact the NBP under his administration ended up through a Memorandum of Agreement on a well-known funeral parlor to look over the burial of some inmates who were already dumped for almost a year inside the morgue of the NBP hospital.

I appreciate the effort of Director Pangilinan in making reforms inside the National Bilibid Prison because during his stint he gave back the dignity of every inmate while giving them too much attention by improving the facilities of the said institution.

I think Director Pangilinan is only a victim of a demolition job prompted by leaders of drug syndicates inside the bilibid. Some drug gang members were having a hard time with their illegal business inside the NBP when Director Pangilinan ordered the isolation of all known drug syndicates inside the bilibid.

For Director Pangilinan, continue the good job after all the truth will prevail. I am with you in prayers that you will pass all through this.
