Letters to the Editor

Clarification

- Atty. Princess b. Principe, Principe & Associates Law Offices -

MANILA, Philippines - We write on behalf of our client, United Caddies and Green Keepers Association of the Philippines, Inc. (UCAP), to correct the erroneous statement on the Comelec Sample Ballot published in your newspaper on 23 April 2010.

In the said Comelec Sample Ballot, it was misrepresented that UCAP’s “Accreditation has been denied with finality (SC)”. Contrary to the statement of the Comelec, the Petition for Review filed by UCAP, docketed as G.R. No. 191111, is still pending determination by the Supreme Court as of this date. A Motion for Reconsideration as seasonably filed by UCAP on 19 March 2010, a copy of which has been furnished the Comelec. Thus, it is premature and incorrect to state that the said case has already been decided with finality by the Supreme Court.

We have already notified the Comelec on this error. Likewise, it is respectfully requested from this publication that an erratum be immediately issued on this inaccuracy to avert confusion to the voting public.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide this clarification and for your prompt and favorable action on this matter.
