Verify the facts

MANILA, Philippines - I am writing to correct misleading statements in Mr. Jarius Bondoc’s column today.

There is no official or employee from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) assigned in my office. Mr. Bondoc’s statement in his column today that the husband of a certain Dorylene SB. Yara is assigned in my office is false. I have no connection to or any knowledge of the transaction Mr. Bondoc refers to in his column.

I hope that in the future, Mr. Bondoc, who is a well-known and veteran columnist, will desist from mentioning my name or position in connection with any issue or transaction without first verifying the facts. — NARCISO Y. SANTIAGO JR., Presidential Adviser on Revenue Enhancement
