Appeal for exemption

-

MANILA, Philippines - Along Ayala Avenue in Makati City there are “loading/unloading zones” for passengers from public conveyances enforced by the Makati Parking Authority Inc. The policy is under Makati City Ordinance No. 03-214.

Does the ordinance cover only passengers from public conveyances? How about those from private cars? Are they covered also? If not, there is a discrimination. This is unfair for the riding public. There is a discrimination between the poor and the rich. Hence, we would like to call the attention of those in the local government especially Mayor Jejomar Binay.

We would like also to ask exemptions in the designated loading and unloading areas. That is to exempt the senior citizens, the physically handicapped, the pregnant and those with children. It will be an ordeal for them to walk quite a distance especially when it is raining. Please consider the request for humanitarian reason. — FRANCISCO MENDEZ, Heroes Hills, Las Piñas City
