Dear Ms. Orosa,

Thank you very much for the write-up in your column of August 22nd, regarding the clearing of Baywalk. Much had been said about the need to have the Boulevard strip back to its former shape for all to enjoy, especially the famous Manila Bay sunset – without unsightly obstructions and we are glad to hear positive and encouraging feedback from your side.

We also appreciate your mentioning our efforts toward fighting corruption, the silent gnawing termites of our system’s moral foundation. We need more of those incessant wake-up calls through your writings for which we are truly grateful.

In assuming our socio-cultural role by inaugurating the Museo Pambata, we hope to be able to complement your especial individual efforts towards cultural growth, your renowned forte, for the benefit not only of Manila but also of the whole country. — ALFREDO S. LIM, City Mayor
