CEBU CITY , Philippines — Forty SM technical-vocational scholars from Don Bosco Tech-Voc Education and Training (TVET) Center in Pasil, Cebu completed their 15-month training in Machining NC II and Automotive Servicing NC II.

The center in Pasil, Cebu City is part of the Don Bosco - One TVET Philippines Inc., a network of 18 TVET centers in the country. It offers courses in automotive servicing, dressmaking, furniture finishing, machining, motorcycle small engine servicing and shielded metal arc welding.

After a 10-month training, the students underwent five months of on-the-job training to complete the course requirement.

Fr. Lamberto Paradiang of the Salesians of Don Bosco congratulated the graduates and exhorted them to be better persons.

“One educated and skilled person is one criminal off the street. Somebody ordinary can become extraordinary,” paradiang told the graduates.

SM Foundation has partnered with Don Bosco TVET Centers to provide scholarships to the youth who choose to pursue technical and vocational courses instead of the four-year college education. The Foundation maintains over 4,000 tech-voc scholars enrolled in various tech-voc training centers nationwide.
