TIP benchmarks at Monash University Australia

MANILA, Philippines - The Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) in coordination with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) visited Monash University in Australiaa on Sept. 9, 2014.

This was part of TIP’s action research on outcomes-based education (OBE) and benchmarking program in top-ranking Australian universities.

The seven-day capacity building and study visit in Australia, with 19 key academic officers, aimed to further develop the capability of TIP on OBE.

Monash University is a founding member of the Group of Eight, the coalition of Australia’s most prestigious research-intensive universities, and ranked among the world’s most prestigious universities.

It is ranked 91st in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (2013-2014), 69th in the 2013/2014 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings and also included in the top 150 world universities according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities compiled by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The TIP group met the academic vice president and dean of the faculties of engineering and information technology Prof. Frieder Seible, and associate dean (Education) Kris Ryan. They shared Monash University’s best practices on industry linkages, collaborative teaching and learning activities, conduct of student activities on multidisciplinary settings, and assessment of student outcomes.

The TIP group also visited University of Melbourne, University of Sydney, The Institution of Engineers Australia, and the Australian Council for Educational Research to ensure delivery of quality instruction through continuous capacity building of its academic personnel.
