Singapore accepting scholarship application
MANILA, Philippines - The Singapore embassy is accepting applications for the Singapore Scholarship Academic Year 2015/2016. The Singapore Government awards the scholarship to students from ASEAN countries, and is tenable at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Singapore Management University (SMU). Except for Medicine, Dentistry, Architecture and Law, all other disciplines are open to recipients of the scholarship.
The Singapore scholarship provides more opportunities for students in ASEAN to obtain a good education. It underlines Singapore’s firm belief that human resource development is key to economic development, and that training and education is vital to success in this age of globalization.
Each award is applicable for three to four years of tertiary study (depending on the discipline) and covers return airfare, full tuition fees, an accommodation allowance, and a living allowance of Sin$4,300 (approx. P150,500) per year. Scholars are selected on the basis of academic merit and slots will be allocated by open competition. They are expected to return home to contribute to the development of their countries upon graduation.
Applicants must be Filipino citizens with excellent academic records and a good command of English. A recipient may not concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, grant or award without prior approval of the Singapore Government. Applicants must be in their first or second year college/university. Nominees will undergo an entrance exam and will be further shortlisted through an interview.
