The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom powered the first Philippine Higher Education Presidents’ Summit at the SMX Taguig Convention Center which brought together the presidents of over 500 public and private colleges and universities from different parts of the country.

Hosted by the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the summit aimed to build a relevant, responsive, and high-quality higher education sector that will be an invaluable resource for Philippine development.

Through internet connectivity provided by Globe, the event was able to air a live stream of the talk by Anant Agarwal (in photo), CEO of EdX, a massive open online course provider and online learning platform by prestigious American schools such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and The University of California, Berkeley.

Globe Telecom’s support to PBed is part of its nation-building pillar which seeks to improve quality of public education and create a wonderful world for teachers and students.
