MANILA, Philippines - US President Barack Obama recently cited a Filipino American teenage boy from Freemont, California. Angelo Marie Chua Basa received the President’s Award for Educational Excellence Certificate under the President’s Education Awards Program upon his graduation at the top of his class from the Alvarado Middle School in 2014.
The President’s Award was personally signed by Obama and attested by the US Secretary of Education Arve Dunkin.
During the graduation rites Basa was also awarded the Certificate for conflict manager by Principal Jesus Varela of the Alvarado Middle School for his exceptional role of resolving conflicts among the school’s students.
