Acer, Optimus help boost ICT education programs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Global tech giant Acer, one of the world’s most renowned and trusted IT brands, has partnered with electronic content management firm Optimus Innovative Technologies Corp. (OITC) to help boost information and communications technology programs in education in the country.

Acer Philippines general manager Manuel Wong recently signed a memorandum of agreement with OITC executive vice president and CEO Mari Paul Soriano. Other signatories in the accord were OITC assistant finance manager Karen Eleanor Pamposa and Acer Philippines commercial sales manager Sue Ong-Lim.

Wong says Acer continues to step up its computer literacy projects by providing solutions and hardware to empower schools and teachers regarding the use of information technology.

“Information technology education is one major segment of Acer that we really focus on. We teach them how to use the tool or hardware to enhance learning in schools,” says Wong.

For his part, Soriano says OITC will focus on integration measures for training of teachers and faculty, wireless solutions for schools and the institutions’ investment in Acer equipment.

“We will act like a bridge for educators and IT guys. We are also happy to partner with a global brand like Acer because we believe that this partnership will be beneficial not just to both companies but also the IT industry and the academe,” says Soriano.
