Top engineering graduates complete Globe network cadetship program
MANILA, Philippines - Top ten engineering graduates from premier universities in the Philippines recently completed a rigorous network cadetship program with Globe Telecom.
A 15-month training course for top engineering graduates, the cadetship program is intended to beef up the company’s pool of network experts amid intensely competitive environment in the telecommunications industry. “The cadetship program is in step with Globe Telecom’s transformation initiative to better equip the enterprise meet the challenges of mobile wireless technology in the future,” Globe chief technical adviser Robert Tan said, referring to the company’s $700 million network modernization initiative.
The transformation initiative delivered the most modernized telecommunications infrastructure in the Philippines and enabled Globe to become the first telecommunications company in the Philippines to achieve 100% 3G coverage for its entire network. By the end of the third quarter of the year, the entire Globe network would be fully equipped with 4G HSPA+ technology, which would further strengthen the company’s capability to provide wonderful digital lifestyle experience to its growing 43 million customers.
Participants in the cadetship program underwent a stringent screening process that included intensive interviews, leadership and behavioral assessments. The entire selection process initially involved more than 100 applicants from different universities offering engineering courses.
Those who completed the cadetship program are Jhericho Jose Obar, who finished Electronics Engineering (ECE) from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; Fernando Nolasco, ECE, Polytechnic University of the Philippines; Derick Dimla, cum laude ECE graduate from Angeles University Foundation; Dan Cedric Basco, cum laude ECE graduate from University of Sto. Tomas; Nikko Yabut, a magna cum laude ECE graduate from University of the Philippines; Mark Jason Amor, ECE, Far Eastern University; Marcelino Barcelona, ECE, PUP; Louis Tanuta, ECE, Mapua Institute of Technology; Joseph Zoreta, Electrical Engineering, Asia Pacific College; and Johannes Dungca, also a cum laude ECE graduate from UST.
As part of the 15-month cadetship program, participants underwent various training programs and were assigned every 3 months to different departments of the company’s Network Technical Group with the objective of expediting their learning process of each of the unique facets of the network. On the basis of their performance and competencies, they were deployed to augment the manpower requirements of the network group.
