2014 Taiwan scholarship application now open

MANILA, Philippines - The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Philippines has opened the application for the 2014 Taiwan Scholarship.

TECO said five slots are available for Filipinos who wish to pursue their post-graduate studies (Masters or Doctorate degree) in the Taiwan universities of their choice this year.

The program duration is two years for students for the Masters program and three years for those in the Doctorate program.

Application period for the graduate scholarship program is from Feb. 18 to April 16.

The recipient will receive up to NT$40,000 (about US$1,320) per semester to cover tuition, and a monthly subsistence allowance of NT$20,000 (about US$660) to cover other necessary expenses.

More than 100 outstanding Filipino students have received this scholarship since 1995, TECO said.

In line with the Republic of China’s (Taiwan) mission to strengthen its educational linkages across the globe, the scholarship is offered specifically for international students who wish to immerse in the rich Taiwanese culture while pursuing further studies.
