Students’ art activities boost Shore It Up cleanup day

MANILA, Philippines - Public elementary school students from Olongapo City take part in creative art activities in the Junior Environmental Scouts (JES) as part of Shore It Up and International Coastal Cleanup Day held recently in the city, Subic Bay Freeport, and Zambales.

JES is a regular component of Shore It Up, the country’s biggest coastal cleanup drive supported by the Metro Pacific Investment Foundation, the corporate social responsibility program of the MVP Group of Companies.

It seeks to help rehabilitate the country’s underwater and coastal ecosystem by mobilizing volunteers, socio-civic groups, schools and local government units.

Since its inception in 2009, the Shore It Up has tapped over 1,000 school children through the JES with environmental awareness lectures through creative visual art activities and slogan-making.

Aside from Olongapo, the activity was also held in Mabini, Batangas; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; and Hundred Islands Natural Park in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, will concludes in Del Carmen in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.
