ABE students get international exposure through OJT abroad

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - One of the advantages of going to school in ABE International Business College is its international on-the-job training (OJT) program. The ABE International OJT program aims to make HRM, Tourism and Business students get their practicum or OJT training, not just in the Philippines, but in different parts of the world, made possible by the linkages that the school forged with various international organizations. These companies facilitate the working arrangements of ABE students who want to do their OJT abroad. Over the years, ABE students have enjoyed OJT in Singapore, Thailand, USA, Australia, United Kingdom… where they experience what it is like working and living in a foreign country while enjoying an allowance or compensation for their OJT. The length of their OJT can range from three months to a maximum of one year.

A student who benefitted from this experience is Margielyn Viray, a BS HRM student from the ABE Urdaneta campus. Margielyn did her OJT in Four Seasons Hotel in Florida, USA. Apart from the confidence, sense of independence and better communication skills that she developed, she earned more than $4,000 during her OJT of 2 ½ months plus tips and additional incentives. Margielyn said that it has always been her dream since childhood to ride an airplane, go abroad and see places. With the ABE International OJT program, her dream has come true.

More students off to the USA! Jona Nievera and Eliza del Mondo from ABE Cabanatuan, taking BS Tourism, are now working at Myrtle Beach Resort, South Carolina.

Jojo Borboran, BS Business Administration student from ABE Malolos is currently working at Harrisburg Sports Service, Pennsylvania USA while Michael Malonda BS Tourism student from ABE Makati will be leaving soon to do his OJT in New Zealand.

Four other ABE students from ABE Urdaneta are presently in different parts of the USA for their OJT. Bernard Quinit Jr. and Ana Muriel Banayot, BS HRM students will be doing their OJT at Drury Hotel, St. Louis Missouri. Marbien Colongue and Eveln Sales, BS HRM student will be doing his OJT at the Tower of America in San Antonio, Texas. While Joanne Robles, a BS Business Administration student from Malolos is now doing her OJT at the theme park, Six Flags New England in Massachusetts.

Edna Jean Go, a BS HRM student from ABE Fairview will be going to Phuket, Thailand for her OJT. She is choosing from several companies that are open to accepting foreign OJT students.

Jerry Paul Clavero, a BS Business Administration student from ABE Legarda has decided to give back to the school that has helped him realize some of his dreams. He is now teaching Math at ABE Legarda and is the General Manager & President of his own real estate brokerage company.
