Outstanding principals honored

MANILA, Philippines - Winners of the 1st National Search for The Outstanding Principals (TOP) of the Philippines were feted by the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. (KCFI), the country’s first and only all-curriculum educational television channel. KCFI president Rina Lopez-Bautista challenged the top principals to inspire other teachers and colleagues to spark a positive revolution in education.

This year’s awardees are: Dr. Teresita Arriola of Pembo Elementary School; Sr. Teresita Capurihan, SPC, of St. Paul College, San Rafael, Bulacan; and Dr. Romulo Rocena of Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School.

Luminaries composed the TOP board of judges as follows: Robert Kuan, chairman, St. Luke’s Medical Center; Prof. Isagani Cruz, PhD, president, The Manila Times College and governor of the National Book Development Board; Juan Miguel Luz, dean, Center for Development Management of the Asian Institute of Management; Anna Marie Periquet, Youth Sector Representative of the 10th Philippine Congress and chairwoman of the Young Entrepreneurs Group of Asia-Pacific; and Dr. Carolina Porio, executive director, Fund for Assistance to Private Education.

The awards ceremony was held Jan. 30, at the Bulwagan ng Karunungan of the Department of Education in Pasig City, and organized by the Leadership Strategies for School Managers.
