Enderun Colleges launches new degree program to respond to industry needs

MANILA, Philippines - With the growing demand and awareness for information technology and business expertise, Enderun Colleges now offers Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, with specialization in Technology Management (BSIS) as an undergraduate program for aspiring stuadents.

“There is a strong demand for highly analytical business consultants who can assess the technical component of a business whilst strategically executing the managerial process,” says Wilson Gan, assistant dean of Enderun’s College of Business and Entrepreneurship. “Enderun’s BSIS program is a unique four-year course that unites that technical aspect of information technology and the administrative facet of business management into one holistic program.”

Enderun’s BSIS program is designed to help students leverage their IT knowledge to make effective and analytical management decisions.

“There is a recent study showing that there are certain skill sets that graduates entering the field are lacking. The BSIS program is developed to fill that void and equip students with the skills that the industry demands and currently needs,” explains Gan. “Our program is focused on developing and enhancing these areas, concentrating on soft skills, specifically the personal attributes of problem-solving, critical thinking, and team skills. It is critical that our graduates leave our program with these skills and ample knowledge to create technical solutions that will improve the existing business process.”

Students of the program can have career opportunities in a technical or information management track. Graduates who pursue a technical track can work in software development and engineering and data center operations, while those whose focus lies in information management can choose to become project managers and business analysts for IT firms. Aside from technical positions, students can also pursue opportunities in non-technical areas such as finance, marketing, human resources and strategy management.

Students of the BSIS program will be guided by Enderun’s strong faculty with years of experience in their respective fields. Enderun’s Wilson Gan has worked for IBM Philippines as an IT solutions manager then later as the business development manager. Another respected faculty member is Dr. Edgardo Rodriguez, dean of College of Business and Entrepreneurship. He was previously the head of Institutional Budget Integration and Information Unit at The World Bank and an associate professor in Rutger University’s Graduate School of Industrial Engineering. The section head of the information technology component of the BSIS program will be Dr. Lydia King. Prior to joining Enderun, Dr. King was the vice president of the information technology group of Banco De Oro.

Enrollment for the BSIS undergraduate program is currently ongoing and will start this coming school year 2013-14.
