FEU establishes int’l internship programs

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Offering its students further opportunities for practical learning and skills development, Far Eastern University (FEU) recently signed memorandums of agreement with HRInternational, Inc. as well as the Open University Malaysia (OUM) and the Centre for Logistics & Management Studies-Malaysia (CLMS-Malaysia), respectively, for the establishment of international internship programs.

Under its partnership with HRInternational, qualified FEU students can apply and participate in the International Educational and Cultural Exchange Program (IECEP) of the United States of America which provides undergraduate students on-the-job training in reputable companies, establishments and organizations in the US.

Meanwhile, FEU’s agreement with the OUM and CLMS-Malaysia facilitates a practicum program for the former’s Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (FEU-ITHM) students with Genting Highlands and Resorts World Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Through this, FEU students will undertake cross cultural training and practical skills enhancements that will enable them to become competent tourism professionals, hoteliers or restaurateurs both here and abroad.

“These partnerships further extend FEU’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates,” remarked Dr. Lydia Echauz, president, FEU. “Through these, our students will receive invaluable training, experience and exposure that will serve them well in their future careers.”

The two programs were spearheaded by dean Melinda Torres, Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (FEU-ITHM); associate dean Ronald Manzano, FEU-ITHM; Dr. Sheila Maria Hocson, director, University Counseling and Career Office (FEU-UCCO); and Miguelito Relente, placement officer, FEU-UCCO. FEU’s memorandum of agreement with HRInternational will be valid for five years while its partnership with both OUM and CLMS-Malaysia will run for three years.
