Hope glimmers for Nayon ng Kabataan orphans

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Shell Business Service Centre Manila and Shell Germany partnered in seeding computer literacy to 120 orphans of Manila.

Spirits were lifted for the children of Nayon ng Kabataan (Children’s Village), as the facility received a donation of a total of 114 used computers and laptops from Shell Business Service Centre (SBSC) Manila and a grant of P250,000 from Shell Germany to fund the computer trainings for the children and internet connectivity. The amount will also cover web security and firewall, and support computer trainings of social workers as well. Established on Sept. 30, 1968, Nayon ng Kabataan is a residential facility for abused, orphaned, abandoned, neglected, and exploited children ages from seven to 17 years old.

The turnover ceremony was held last Aug. 10, at the Nayon ng Kabataan facility in Mandaluyong City. The ceremony saw the handover of donations to 120 orphans from Andreas Mall representing Shell Germany, Analie Motilla and Benjamin Azanza for SBSC Manila, and Department of Social Welfare and Development Director Rodolfo Santos.

The donations are aimed to equip the children of Nayon ng Kabataan with the basics of computer education. The used computers and laptops were donated by SBSC Manila as part of their Sustainable Development (SD) efforts and their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). SBSC Manila is a business of the Shell Business Service Centre worldwide network.
