Raffles opens int'l admissions office in Phl

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Raffles Education Corp, the largest private education group in the Asia Pacific with 38 colleges in 35 cities in 14 countries in the region, has opened its International Admissions Office (IAO) recently, co-located at Raffles Design Institute, Manila’s (RDIM) campus in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

The Raffles IAO provides a convenient gateway for Filipino students intending to further their studies in overseas Raffles campuses like Australia, Singapore and China, and to gain an internationally-recognized bachelor and master degrees in the disciplines of design, commerce, infocomm, biomedical science and psychology.

According to Raffles IAO director Andrew Suprajitno, “More Filipino students are looking at studying overseas, and we wish to provide them with more options. The Raffles IAO education consultants can provide guidance to prospective students on the selection of courses and information on specific Raffles campuses, visa application procedures, accommodation options etc.”

The Raffles IAO also provides guidance on how to apply for overseas scholarships to prospective students who have outstanding portfolios and academic standing. For example, the Sydney campus, awards a 50 percent scholarship to two students for each degree. Prospective students intending to apply can inquire at the Raffles IAO for application documents and other requirements.

Barbie O’ Brien, international marketing manager of Raffles, Sydney adds that Filipinos have much to gain with an education abroad. “Being English-speaking, Filipinos already have an advantage because there is no language barrier. They can gain more independence, experience a different culture and lifestyle in an international campus, build professional networks abroad, and get internship opportunities before they even graduate. After graduation, they can work in the country of their campus, go back to the Philippines, or - because they now have an internationally-recognized degree - work in another country.”

Here in the Philippines, RDIM offers two-year, full-time, advanced diploma courses in Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Management, Graphic Design, and Interior Design with an optional one-year top-up bachelor of design degree program.
