'Gusto Kong Mag-aral' launched in remote Samar town
MANILA, Philippines - Army engineers and a major television outfit launched this week the “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral” project, a program aimed at bringing schools closer to children long deprived of learning in one of the far flung communities in Eastern Samar.
The project launching was highlighted by the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a two-classroom building in Barangay Calingatan, Borongan City spearheaded by the 801st Infantry Brigade and the 546th Army engineering construction battalion and by the ABS-CBN’s representatives, through its Sagip Kapamilya Foundation.
Also present in support of the “Gusto Kong Mag-Aral”, a project by the ABS-CBN foundation, were key officials from Borongan headed by Mayor Maria Fe Abunda.
“It is worthy to note that a lot of help is coming to Samar Island which is rated as one of the poorest in Eastern Visayas,” Lt. Col. Niceforo Diaz, spokesman of the 8th Infantry Division and commanding officer of the Civil-Military Operation Battalion in the province.
