Jollibee to build 40 public school classrooms starting 2011

-

MANILA, Philippines - In response to the call of the Department of Education to help address the country’s classroom gap, Jollibee will build up to 40 classrooms beginning 2011 under its Build-A-Classroom Project.

Driven by the strong support of Jollibee patrons all over the country, Jollibee was able to sell over 400,000 dolls which enabled the company to raise a total of P12 million. An additional P8 million will be donated by the Jollibee Franchisees Association and the Jollibee Foundation, making it possible to build as many as 40 classrooms starting this year.

The beneficiary schools will be selected from among DepEd’s list of priority schools for classroom construction and those that are participating in Jollibee Foundation’s Busog, Lusog, Talino School Feeding program.

Jollibee vice president for marketing Albert Cuadrante said that the overwhelming response of its customers on the novelty offering was very instrumental in jumpstarting the Build-A-Classroom Project. “We’d like to thank every Jollibee patron who brought the Jollibee and Friends Dolls and generously shared their blessings to our less fortunate kids. Because of their selfless act, Jollibee will be able to answer the call of the Department of Education to help bridge the classroom gap in the country and provide kids with more conducive places for learning.”
