FEU-East Asia College student wins Microsoft's MVP Award
MANILA, Philippines - The Far Eastern University-East Asia College student Leo Lorenzo Luis was hailed the youngest Microsoft Valuable Professional (MVP) and the 1st Microsoft Student Partner to receive the award in the Philippines by the Microsoft Academic Community.
The Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Program is an annual award that recognizes exceptional individuals worldwide who actively share their quality and real-world expertise to technical communities. Nominees are elected by other technical community members and previous awardees of the title. Also included in the evaluation and review process is a representative of Microsoft who judges the exceptional skills of individuals and their ability to help others make the most of the Microsoft technology.
“We’re very proud of Leo Lorenzo Luis for bagging the MVP award. Our industry-based curriculum combined with the intensive training program yields students who are truly exceptional. Not only did Mr. Luis bring honor to the College but to the country as well. On behalf of the whole FEU-East Asia College community, we would like to commend Mr. Luis!” said Benson Tan, FEU-East Asia College executive director.
MVPs are present in over 90 countries and Microsoft technologies. Their passion for technology, willingness to help others, and commitment to the community make them exceptional community leaders. “MVPs are technology’s best and brightest, and we are honored to welcome Leo Lorenzo as one of them,” quips Rich Kaplan, corporate vice president, customer and partner advocacy, Microsoft Corp.
Meanwhile, BSC-Legal Management students Mark Angelo Barizo and Marco Carlo Sana emerged as champions at the recent inter-school quiz-bee entitled, “Clash of the LEGMA-Minds”.
Barizo is the president of FEU’s Negotiorum Lex (NEGLEX), while Sana is the president of FEU’s Oratorical and Debate Council (ORADEC). Both students battled it out in the competition which covered topics such as constitutional/political law, civil law, labor law, criminal law, business law, general knowledge and current events.
The competition was sponsored by the Alliance of Legal Management Association of the Philippines (ALMAP) and hosted by the San Beda College Legal Management Society. Students who participated in the event came from University of Sto. Tomas, Lyceum of the Philippines, Isabela State University and Bulacan State University, among others.
