US study opportunities

MANILA, Philippines - Studying in the USA is the dream of so many students in the Philippines. The names of the top universities are like a mantra: Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, UMass, Georgetown, MIT, and discussions about the rankings of the Ivy League schools and their football/basketball teams never fail to generate interest. However, very few Philippine students actually go there because of a combination of entry requirements, costs, accommodation issues, visa, travel, etc. that together form insurmountable hurdles to studying in the US. The eminar presented by International Education Specialists tomorrow, Jan 28, at 5.30 p.m. at the US Embassy Commercial Service will knock down those hurdles and show that studying in the USA is a dream that can be realized. Located on the 25th floor of the Ayala Life - FGU Center, Ayala Avenue, Makati, the Commercial Service of the US Embassy is the venue of theseminar, and supports the efforts of US colleges and universities who make studying in the USA easily accessible to Philippine students. The free seminar will be conducted by Roger Bartholomew, president of Inter-Ed, at the US Embassy (Commercial Section), 25/F Ayala Life-FGU Center, 6811 Ayala Avenue Makati. Students who would like to be interviewed individually, may set appointments from 1 - 5 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. For security purposes the US Embassy requires pre-registration which may be done through www.inter-ed.com, 0918-9041282, or [email protected], or calling 8191001.
