PWU's School of Social Work turns 60
MANILA, Philippines - The School of Social Work of the Philippine Women’s University will mark its 60th foundation anniversary with a testimonial program tomorrow, Dec. 10, 10 a.m. at the Conrado Benitez Hall, Taft campus, Manila.
Keynote speaker is Ambassador Rosario Manalo who will talk on the theme “60 Years of Creative Education in the Context of Human Rights,” while university president Dr. J. Francisco Benitez will deliver the anniversary message.
Dean Dr. Nenita Cura of the Philippine School of Social Work will welcome the guests led by PWU board chairperson Dr. Helena Benitez who will give the citations to awardees Dr. Angelina Almanzor and Erlinda Cordero.
Former Senator Benitez will be assisted by chief finance officer Alfredo Reyes, VP for academic affairs Dr. Vivien Talisayon and alumni director Bubbles Villafuerte.
Considered the country’s first School of Social Work, it has as its founding dean, the late Josefa Jara Martinez, mother of former First Lady Amelita “Ming” Ramos who is also a Philwomenian.
